Crisis loans are made when people are unable to meet their immediate short term needs as the result of an emergency or disaster.

The Minister explained that people can make multiple applications throughout the year.

According to the Social Security Agency (SSA) loans should be the only means of avoiding serious damage or risk to the health or safety of the applicant or a member of the family.
