124 social homes

LONDONDERRY will get 124 new homes as part of an £65million pound investment in the development of much needed social housing across four key stress areas throughout Northern Ireland.

The new homes on Skeoge Road will provide sustainable and affordable housing for low income families while also providing a much needed employment for the local construction industry.

Fold Housing Association, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the Department for Social Development, has already begun work on over 400 new houses in West Belfast, Londonderry, Newtownards and Comber.

These projects are in addition to a number of major family housing projects currently approaching completion in Belfast in the Village Area, Annadale and Torrens.

John McLean, chief executive, Fold added: "The work commenced in this year and the projects approaching completion, represent a total investment of 65m of Fold's private finance and housing grant from the Department for Social Development.

"This is much needed investment for our local construction industry in these challenging times".

William Cameron, Fold's chairman, commented: "We are very pleased to be providing high quality and energy efficient housing across the main housing stress hot spots in Northern Ireland.
