1.4k waiting overyear for surgery
At the end of the last year over 1,000 people in the Western Trust were waiting over a year for elective surgery.
Health Minister Simon Hamilton recently revealed the statistic in response to a query from outgoing MLA Gerard Diver.
He said: “At December 31, 2015, the most recent date for which official statistics are available, there were a total of 11,552 patients waiting for inpatient treatment in the Western Health and Social Care Trust. Of these, 1,475 (12.8 per cent) were waiting in excess of 52 weeks.”
