150-year reunion plan for Gordon family in Australia

Descendants of an Ulster family which emigrated 150 years ago are being invited to attend a grand reunion in Australia.

James and Agnes Gordon and 11 of their 12 children sailed on the SS Maryborough from Belfast in 1866. Their grandchildren became some of the earliest developers in far North Queensland.

The celebration is planned for the weekend of August 20 & 21 in the town of Bowen in North Queensland.

The second-youngest child, Mary Eliza, was born in Larne in June 1858 and was Bowen’s first centenarian.
