19 child sex abuse cases

THERE are currently 19 cases involving sexual offences against a child before the Londonderry Crown and Magistrates’ Courts, it’s been revealed.

Seven cases are due to be heard at the local Crown Court with 12 due to be heard at the local Magistrates’ Court.

Staggeringly there are 228 cases involving cases of sexual offences against a child currently before courts across Northern Ireland.

Justice Minister David Ford revealed the information in response to an Assembly Question from Lord Morrow.
