19 people attacked by dogs

NINETEEN people were attacked by dogs in Londonderry this summer, according to Derry City Council's reported statistics.

A report by Derry City Council Chief Environmental Officer shows there were 19 reported attacks, 81 reports of dogs straying and 13 instances of dogs fouling during July and August.

Over 40 stray dogs were impounded and 34 were put down. Eleven were reclaimed, 17 unwanted and 8 were sold/rehomed.

During the same period 21 Fixed Penalty Notices were served and 20 Health Check/Neutering Vouchers issued to dog owners.
