2010 property and grant seminar

PROPERTY owners of Bushmills are being invited to take advantage of another chance next week to hear about available grants, advice and other opportunities to assist with the development of property in the village.

Following on from the success of their last seminar held in October 2008, Bushmills Townscape Heritage Initiative has organised the Bushmills Property & Grants Seminar 2010 on Thursday of next week at 1.30pm in the Mill Rest Hostel, Bushmills.

This event is hoped to provide property owners with information about grants, advice and other assistance available with input from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, the Rural Development Programme and Bushmills Townscape Heritage Initiative themselves.

Bushmills Townscape Heritage Initiative Partnership which was set up in 2004 to address high levels of dereliction in the village, has delivered a regeneration scheme providing grant assistance to bring back into use derelict and under-used properties for new commercial and residential uses.

The Heritage Lottery Fund’s Townscape Heritage Initiative backed scheme which has recently seen the successful completion of a renovated property in the village, is currently considering a number of final applications before the scheme draws to a close in March 2011. In spite of the work of Bushmills THI drawing to a close, they have invited a number of organisations whose work will continue beyond March 2011 to attend the Property & Grants Seminar on 25th March, providing the opportunity for property owners to ask questions about policies and incentives which may be available to them after the Partnership winds down.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in the regeneration of Bushmills and kicks off at 1.30pm with a light lunch prior to a series of talks from the organisations in attendance. The afternoon will also include the opportunity for individuals to informally discuss prospective schemes with the relevant organisations. Anyone interested in attending is asked to book their place at the seminar by contacting the Community Services Officer at Moyle District Council on 028 2076 2225 or by emailing [email protected] by Monday 22nd March.
