22 Trust staff sacked as a result of conduct

The 22 were among thirty staff who were dismissed by the local health authority over the three years, 2013 to 2015.

Eight other staff were dismissed on the basis of their “attendance” or “health,” according to the Department.

Last year, 2015, witnessed the fewest dismissals with six, although a social worker, a nurse, a nursing support worker and a support services worker, were all sacked due for their conduct.

During the same year a support services worker and a home carer were all let go on grounds of “attendance/health.”

The year before, 2014, there were nine dismissals across the Trust.

In that year five nurses, a nursing support worker, a social worker and a support services workers were all sacked for unacceptable conduct whilst a support services worker was dismissed due to “attendance/health.”

But 2013 witnessed the largest amount of dismissals with fifteen.

In that year, two nurses, a care assistant, three support service workers, three nursing support workers and a maintenance assistant were all sacked due to their conduct.

Four support service workers and a social work support worker were all dismissed on grounds of “attendance/health.”

The Health Minister Simon Hamilton provided the details on dismissals in response to questioning from outgoing SDLP MLA Fearghal McKinney.
