Work is underway at almost 280 homes at Larne Town, Linn Road Millbrook, Islandmagee and Magheramorne, in an investment worth over £600,000.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said: “This is excellent news for tenants across Northern Ireland. Families will benefit greatly from the work which will ensure they are provided with more comfortable and warmer homes.”

Acting Chief Executive Mags Lightbody said: “I am delighted our double glazing programme is now underway. The tenants who live in these homes will be the first of just over 7,800 households to benefit from this programme.

“By replacing them now, tenants should benefit from greater energy efficiency, noise reduction as well as lower heating costs.

“This is a new start for the Housing Executive. We have new contracts in place, not only for our double glazing but also for our major improvement schemes.

“This year we plan to spend £90million on improving our tenants homes.”
