287 drivers are caught speeding at Glenravel

ALMOST 300 speeding motorists have been detected by police on the road between Martinstown and Cargan.

That was the statistic revealed to last Wednesday night’s meeting in public of Ballymena District Policing Partnership (DPP) by PSNI Area Commander, Chief Inspector Ryan Henderson.

Speaking in response to a submitted question from Cargan resident Liam Higgins on police road safety measures in the area, the Chief Inspector pointed out that the route was designated ‘a Community Concern Site’ in January, 2010 and made it part of the local Road Policing Patrol Strategy involving monthly visits by the safety camera van.

“To-date, 287 motorists have been detected in excess of the speed limits,” said the Chief Inspector.

“DRD Road Service were again consulted regarding additional engineering solutions, they have not identified any further solutions as the area has undergone significant road improvement schemes in recent years,” he said.
