288 civil servants redundant in two years

NEARLY 300 civil servants have taken voluntary redundancy within the past two years, Personnel Minister Sammy Wilson has revealed.

He was asked by Green MLA Stephen Agnew to say how many civil servants had been made redundant or who had involuntarily lost their jobs in each year since the implementation of the 2011-15 budget.

Mr Wilson revealed that in 2011/12 151 civil servants took voluntary redundancy; and in 2012/13 to date 137 have left the civil service voluntarily. In total 288 took voluntary redundancy. No one suffered compulsory redundancy.
