296 speeders were convicted

TWO hundred and ninety six speeders were convicted in Londonderry in 2005 and 2006.

In 2005 176 speeders were convicted in the Foyle District Command Unit. Only in Lisburn where 194 speeding motorists were convicted was there a greater total of successful prosecutions.

In 2006 the number of convictions in Londonderry dipped to 120 behind Newry and Mourne (165), Dungannon and South Tyrone (137) and Lisburn (132). Justice Minister David Ford released the data in response to a query at the Stormont Assembly.
