2k seater hall with bars set for Ebrington

ILEX has applied for permission to build a huge new auditorium in Ebrington with bars and seating for over 2k people in time for Londonderry City of Culture 2013.

The local regeneration company wants to build the ‘Vital Venue’ adjacent to Ebrington Square in a space bounded by Limavady Road, St Columb’s Road and Building 80-81 which is expected to host the Turner Prize next year.

The plans indicate the “temporary demountable structure for events” will be over 5,000 square metres in area.

There will be at least two bars, seating for thousands, a stage and a green room and dressing rooms for performers.

Whilst ILEX has submitted the application with the local planners the Department of Finance and Personnel’s Central Procurement Directorate (CPD) is acting as agent.
