30 years of town twinning

The Coleraine Twinning Association celebrated its 30 year anniversary with La Roche-sur-Yon last weekend. The partnership between the two towns was established in 1981 and Coleraine is now the longest running Twinning Association in the country.

Celebrations to mark the occasion ran from Thursday to Sunday as representatives from La Roche, including entertainers, musicians and athletes enjoyed a packed programme of events including a Mayoral reception at Cloonavin, a French street party in Coleraine and the Riverfest event at Christie Park.

Mayor of Coleraine, Alderman Maurice Bradley commented; “Our 30 year partnership with La Roche-Sur-Yon has been a real success and last weekend’s event is a genuine achievement and testimony to the lasting rapport existing between the two towns.

“I was delighted to mark this milestone in our relationship by welcoming representatives of La Roche to the Borough, to sample the best of the North Coast.”
