30 years recognition for local volunteers

The Volunteer Centre is working in partnership with Coleraine, Ballymoney and Moyle Councils as well as DSD to organise events to acknowledge the huge contribution that volunteers make every year to their communities.

CVC want want all organisations in the Causeway area to put their volunteers’ names forward so that they can be included.

Last year volunteers, registered with the Centre alone, clocked up over 200,000 hours, that’s the equivalent of 100 full time jobs!

That’s a lot of services for the local community and deserving of high praise.

Mary McNickle, manager of the Centre said: “Staff and volunteers within organisations are very busy and sometimes don’t take the time to acknowledge all the work that is being done by volunteers. “ We see Volunteer’s Week as an opportunity to give organisations a little nudge to stop for a minute and say a collective thank you’.

This year is the 30th anniversary of Volunteers Week and we want to make a huge effort this year so we’re asking organisations to please take this opportunity to show your support for your volunteers.”
