32 tonne exportingtour truck rollinginto Ebrington

Invest NI boss Alastair Hamilton says a 32 tonne, 40ft long touring truck will visit Londonderry next week to provide local businesses with expert exporting advice sessions and workshops.

The ‘Exporting is GREAT’ truck will be here as part of an initiative to drive export growth.

“Export-led growth is essential to the development of the Northern Ireland economy. Between January and December 2015 Northern Ireland manufacturing companies exported £6.31 billion to countries around the world, a 5.9 per cent increase on the previous year,” said Mr Hamilton.

“We want to continue to drive export growth further and have teamed up with UK Trade & Investment to bring the interactive ‘Export Hub’ to Northern Ireland to highlight the importance of exporting. The 32 tonne, 40ft long touring truck will visit Belfast, Banbridge, Londonderry, Antrim and Enniskillen and will offer Northern Ireland businesses expert exporting advice sessions and workshops,” he added.

Exporting is GREAT is the UK Government’s most ambitious export initiative ever. It aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020. The Export Hub is a flexible space with areas for seminars, meetings and a Skype room to connect and talk to a network of overseas advisors about doing business in different markets.

“We hope to remove the misconceptions that surround exporting and this initiative will go a long way in helping us to achieve this. It will boost business confidence, help to empower Northern Ireland businesses to grasp the opportunities available in international markets and give the required support to businesses here to take those first steps into the global marketplace” Mr. Hamilton added.

The truck will be in Ebrington on May 18.
