3,900 children set to start P1

OVER 3,900 pupils will start Primary One Education in September 2010 in the Western Education and Library Board (WELB).

More than 3,900 children across WELB have been informed of which primary school they will attend in September 2010.

Parents and guardians received letters on Thursday, April 15, 2010 from the primary school which will admit their son or daughter in accordance with the school's published admissions criteria.

Robert Thompson, WELB Head of Transfer and Open Enrolment said: "A limited number of parents/guardians whose children have not yet been placed at this stage of the procedure due to parental preferences being exhausted have received a letter from the Board notifying them of the primary schools within each District Council area which still have places available."
