On the same night a beautiful new lectern Bible was unveiled and now sits on the communion table at the front of the church.

A few weeks later another special service was held to dedicate 80 new pew Bibles which had been kindly donated to the church.

On the front of each Bible is a picture of Hampton Court, the place where the decision was taken to translate the King James Bible.

The speaker on this special occasion was Rev Eric Lewis, who performed the dedication ceremony and spoke about Jesus using the word of God to overcome the devil in the wilderness.

The ladies of the congregation served up a delicious supper at the conclusion of both services. At the beginning of May a week of meetings was held looking at the phrase verily, verily which is unique to the King James Bible.

This event was organised to coincide with the first printing of the Bible on May 2, 1611.

The minister of the church Rev Jonathan Campbell was the speaker at each of these Bible studies. All of the sermons are available for streaming at www.sermonaudio.com/newbuildings or for those who would prefer a CD of the meetings please phone 07769842893 or email [email protected].
