The majority of these arrest warrants (350) were issued over 12 months ago. Seventy-six were issued within the last year.

He revealed that the figure relates to the number of Arrest Warrants (Magistrates’ Court and Youth Court) and Bench Warrants (Crown Court), including European Arrest Warrants.

Meanwhile, the PSNI in Londonderry have said that over one hundred people have been arrested in Foyle following the launch of Operation Relentless at the start of October.

Officers have executed over 250 warrants and made hundreds of curfew checks. The public have also assisted in this operation following the publication of the images of 19 people police wanted to speak to in relation to ongoing criminal investigations.

Inspector Jon Burrows said: “Our focus has been on warrants relating to more serious and persistent offenders and those people who are trying to evade the criminal justice system.

“This operation complements the work your officers do every day in partnership with the community to reduce overall crime in the Foyle area and make our city safer for everyone.”
