46 prisoners ‘unlawfully at large’ since 69

JAILBREAKS since the start of the Troubles have resulted in 46 prisoners escaping and successfully avoiding recapture and return to Northern Ireland jails, according to Justice Minister David Ford.

Mr Ford stated: “Records indicate that since 1969, 46 prisoners are ‘Unlawfully at Large’. It is not possible to determine in all cases whether or not the offences were linked to organisations connected with the affairs of Northern Ireland.”
