53 redundancies in Ballymoney during the past twelve months

MORE than 50 people were made redundant in the Ballymoney area in the last twelve months.

According to new figures revealed by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Investment, there were 53 confirmed redundancies in Ballymoney and none in Moyle.

A spokesperson stated: “There were 4,541 confirmed redundancies in Northern Ireland over the year to 31 December 2009, an increase of 63% compared to the same period in the previous year (2,782).

“Of these. 343 confirmed redundancies took place during the calendar month of December 2009 and 379 in the previous month of November 2009. This compares to 451 in December 2008.

“The largest number of redundancies occurred in Belfast (1,474, Derry (671) and Newtownabbey (303) District council areas.”
