600 rally to anti-drugs call

A LARNE group opposed to the sale of legal highs has attracted more than 600 members in 10 days.

Formed through networking on the Facebook website, PAL (People Against Legals) now aims to mobilise public concern.

The committee behind the lobby is organising a public information meeting next month; a rally is planned; and the group also intends to hold "small, peaceful protests" at premises where substances similar to the now-controlled mephedrone are still legally offered for sale.

PAL was formed on the day that Seacourt man Martin Morrow was buried. The 20-year-old, who was said to be “a victim of drug dependency” , died in hospital after attending a party.
