7 bouncers to beinvestigated

Seven Londonderry bouncers are being investigated for possible breaches of the licensing laws after a clampdown on Saturday.

Police accompanied by Security Industry Authority (SIA) officials and the police district licensing officer, carried out checks of supervisors at a number of city centre premises.

Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan, the area commander, said the operation was designed to ensure the safety of those who enjoy the normal weekend social scene in the city centre.

“If an establishment employs door staff as part of licensing requirements, then the staff must be SIA-accredited,” he added.
