70 ecstasy tablets found during Coleraine search

Causeway Coast and Glens police have arrested a man in connection with the seizure of seventy suspected ecstasy tablets following a search in the Ballysally area of Coleraine on Tuesday.

Four other people were also arrested in Portrush, Bushmills and Spittle Hill on suspicion of unconnected and separate drugs offences.

Chief Inspector Mark McClarence said: “We understand the concern within our communities about drugs and so the police service works hard to take drugs off our streets. Suspected ecstasy tablets and herbal cannabis were seized during the series of searches yesterday.

“The seizure of these drugs makes a relatively small but nevertheless important contribution towards keeping people safe, particularly younger and vulnerable drug users.

“The criminal justice system will now take its course with regard to the individuals who have been arrested.

“I would ask for continued community support for police in our efforts to bring drug dealers before the courts. If you have any information about drug supply or misuse in your community please contact Causeway Coast and Glens police on the non-emergency number 101. You can also provide information in confidence via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
