76 NW sports clubshave built on peace

Hundreds of people involved with running 76 different sports clubs in the North West have been taking part in a two year programme aimed at strengthening peace building at grass roots level.

Their experience and learning will be shared at a conference entitled ‘Building Respect Through Community Sport’ on Friday, September 26, in the Great Hall at Magee College.

The overall focus of the Respect programme has been on examining how sport can be used as a tool to develop communities and to act as a bridge between groups, promote social inclusion and tackle racism and sectarianism.
