769 successful DLA appeals

OVER seven hundred people won Disability Living Allowance (DLA) appeals in Londonderry over the past three years, the largest amount of successful challenges outside Belfast where there were 1,718.

The amount of successful DLA appeals at the Londonderry tribunal centre fell from 289 in 2008/9 and 292 in 2009/10 to 188 in 2010/11. The total for the three years was 769.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland outlined the information in response to an Assembly Question.

He said the Appeals Service arranged DLA appeals to be heard in Tribunal Centres throughout Northern Ireland.
