Work is underway at 68 houses in Ballymoney in the first of a series of double glazing schemes across Northern Ireland.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said: “I welcome the fact that the contracts are in place and work has started again on the double glazing programme to meet the Programme for Government commitment to install double glazing in all Housing Executive homes by the end of March next year.”

Mags Lightbody, acting Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted our double glazing programme is now underway. The tenants who live in these homes in Ballymoney will be the first of just over 7,800 households to benefit from this programme.

“It will be a major boost for our residents living in those homes. By replacing them now, tenants should benefit from greater energy efficiency, noise reduction as well as lower heating costs.”

Mr Brian Wilson is one of the tenants who will benefit from new double glazing to his home at Coral Close in Ballymoney. He said he is “delighted” with the work.

The Housing Executive’s programme this year involves 58 schemes and includes around 7,800 homes. During the course of the contracts, our contractors will liaise with residents and the Housing Executive to ensure the work achieves the high standards set and expected.
