8k babies bornsince 2008/9
OVER 8k babies were born at Altnagelvin over the past three years.
In 2008/9 there were 2,824 live births in Altnagelvin; there were 2,786 at the hospital in 2009/10; and 2,892 in 2010/11; giving a total of 8,502 new babies.
Of 11 hospitals across Northern Ireland only the Antrim, Craigavon, Royal Maternity and Ulster hospitals had more live births over the htree years.
Health Minsiter Edwin Poots outlined the number of live births at each acute hospital in response to an Assembly Question.
