8k dog licences issued

OVER 8k dog licences were issued in Londonderry over the past three years, it’s emerged.

Rural Development Minister provided details of the licences issued here between 2010 and 2012 in response to an Assembly Query.

She stated: “Dog control is legislated for here by the Dogs Order 1983, as amended by the Dogs (Amendment) Act 2011. Councils enforce this legislation and provide statistics to my Department regarding its operation.”

The amount of dog licences issued here was 8,521.
