90-year-old woman rescued from house fire dies

A 90 YEAR old woman who was found unconscious when she was rescued by police officers from a fire at her home in Twinbrook has died.

The woman was taken to hospital after the police got into her mid terrace house at Laburnum Green early on Wednesday morning and got her out of the fire.

The Fire service arrived at 5.18am wearing breathing apparatus and dealt with the fire in the bedroom of the property.

The woman was taken to hospital and a number of PSNI officers were also treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

She had been in a critical condition, but police said she passed away on Thursday morning.
