90th anniversary for Moores

Coleraine retailer Moores of Coleraine celebrated 90 years in business recently.

To mark the momentous occasion, the store have installing a heritage wall within its ground floor restaurant in Coleraine - Café M.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, cllr Michelle Knight-McQuillan, joined in on the birthday celebrations with Managing Director, Neville Moore.

The heritage wall, which will be officially launched in early February with a host of dignitaries, members of the community and media will kick off a year-long series of events to mark the retailer’s 90 year anniversary.

The wall showcase’s the store’s rich history from 1st October 1925, when it was purchased by John Moore to present day, and highlights the special place that it has held within the community through the decades. It is testament to the ingenuity of the Moore’s that the store remains within the family to this day.

Commenting on the anniversary plans Neville Moore, Managing Director of Ulster Stores which owns Moores of Coleraine, said: “Moores has stood on Church Street since 1925, and since then has constantly evolved and adapted to meet the needs of its customers.

“We are proud of the history and heritage of the store and decided this was the perfect way to begin a year of celebrations to mark its 90th year.

“Over the next 12 months Moores will embark on a series of initiatives and activities to celebrate its anniversary year.”

The store comprises of a café, a restaurant, as well as a cookshop, interiors, menswear, womenswear, accessories and beauty department as well as designer shoe department Moda in Pelle.

POLICE NEWS: Women robbed with knife in Coleraine: Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in the Loughanhill Park area of Coleraine on Friday evening, It was reported that at around 5.20pm, two males entered a house in the area and threatened the female occupant with a knife demanding money. The males made off with a sum of cash from the house. Both males are described as being aged between 20 and 30 years old, 5’6” – 5’10” tall and of slim build.

Detective Inspector Stewart is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact Detectives in Coleraine on 101. D
