92-year-old recognised for dedication to Poppy Appeal

A NEWTOWNABBEY woman has been recognised for her many years of loyal service collecting for the Poppy Appeal.

Margaret Lyttle, 92, who lives in Carnmoney, has been fundraising for the appeal for a staggering 69 years. An ex-servicewoman, she said her commitment to the Royal British Legion (RBL) cause stems back to her grandfather's service in the First World War.

Mrs Lyttle was recently presented with a framed certificate by Mervyn Elder, President of the Northern Ireland RBL, to mark her unwavering dedication to raising funds to help safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Forces.
