9th Route Finvoy BB 70th anniversary service held

On entering the Boys Brigade headquarters he met the Rev. R. J. Young the then minister of Ramoan Presbyterian Church.

After a short conversation it emerged that the Rev Young had just registered a new Boys Brigade Company for his Church in Ramoan.

The Rev. Young then told the Rev. Corkey that he had just registered his Company as 8th Route and that Finvoy would have to be 9th Route and so 9th Route Finvoy Boys Brigade was born, and on Sunday evening the 17th January 2016 a large congregation of former officers, Leaders, Boys, parents and friends attended a 70th anniversary service in Finvoy Presbyterian Church.

The Rev. Roy Gaston and the Captain Ian Bolton received the colours at the start of the service. The readers were Andrew Dysart and Robbie Bellingham. Jordan Moon, Andrew Dysart William Gilmore, David Dysart, Sam Reid, Mark Faulkner, Matthew Campbell and Thomas Dysart collected the offering as Robbie Bellingham played the piano.

The Boys Brigade choir sang two pieces and the Anchor boys also sang for the congregation. Jacqueline Moon gave a short history of the company and paraded some old uniforms.

Ian Bolton gave a talk to the younger members of the congregation and the N.I. Boys Brigade director Mr. Jonathan Gracey concluded the service with an epilogue.

After the service those present enjoyed a cup of tea and some anniversary cake. A large display of memorabilia, uniform, badges, photographs and newspaper clipping created a lot of debate among those who seen it.
