A chance to replace your old oil central heating boiler

IF you haven’t already done so, now is a good time to get your oil central heating boiler serviced to be ready for autumn and winter.

If it is time to replace your boiler, you may be eligible for financial assistance through The Boiler Replacement Allowance.

Funding is available from DSD and the scheme is administered through the NI Housing Executive.

The scheme, which starts in September, is open to home owner occupiers earning less than £40,000, whose boiler is at least 15 years old and inefficient.

The grant is available to assist in replacing the old boiler with a more efficient condensing oil or gas boiler, switching from oil to natural gas (where available), or switching to a wood pellet boiler.

The amount of the grant is based on income. Those earning below £20,000 are offered £700 to replace the boiler, with an additional £300 if controls are required to be installed. For those earning over £20,000 but under £40,000, the grant is £400 for the new boiler, with an additional £100 for installation of controls.

Householders may use an installer of their own choice, provided they are fully registered. A building control inspection and fee are compulsory. (Please note this fee is not included in the grant.)
