A fitting tribute to the fallen of the Somme

The amateur drama group comprises members of different Orange Lodges along with family within the Banbridge District. They have been together for six years and they have raised over £6,000 for various charities.

The play, which commemorated the Centenary of the Somme, was based on a fictional family called the Moores and followed two brothers from 1914 through to after the war. It was written by Sharon Irwin, who wanted not only to tell the history of the Volunteers but also to show how it affected families, especially mothers, who in many households were left brokenhearted. The play, which was written to appeal to everyone, had fun and laughter along with poems and songs - it was a fitting tear jerking tribute to the fallen in the 36th Ulster Division.
