A fond farewell to Malcolm

Pupils and invited guests gathered in Ballycastle Integrated Primary School last week to bid a fond farewell to a much loved member of staff, Malcolm Kane, who has worked at the school as both the Caretaker and Lollipop man for over 25 years.

Malcolm always made sure the school was sparkling inside and out and took great pride in keeping our lovely front garden on which many visitors commented when they visited the school.

As Lollipop man, Malcolm was outside from early morning in all kinds of weather – rain, hail, blow or snow!

Hundreds of children crossed the road safely under Malcolm’s caring eye and even yet the children ask, ‘Where’s Malcolm?’

Dr Brown, Chairperson of the Board of Governors, spoke of Malcolm’s dedication to the school community: “Thank you Malcolm for your time here with us in school. You leave with our warmest thanks and we hope that you are able to enjoy a long and happy retirement.”

Malcolm was presented with gifts from the pupils, parents and staff and thanked everyone for their warm wishes and said how much he enjoyed working here.
