A gem of a day at the YMCA

Plenty of fun and even more noise was the order of the day at Larne YMCA’s diamond jubilee event, which was attended by children, parents and grandparents on a very wet afternoon.

A bouncy castle kept the children active and when in need of a break they headed off to do some drumming with Joe Laughlin from The Gathering Drum. Joe had both adults and children using a variety of ethnic drums, creating their own special diamond jubilee beat and working hard to keep in rhythm together.

Tea and buns provided a welcome rest for the adults, but the kids were happy to tackle the jubilee treasure hunt around the building, looking out for the hidden diamonds and testing their general knowledge.

Play co-ordinator Laura Hunter said: “It was brilliant fun for everyone and great to see people chatting together over tea and buns. Thanks to Larne Borough Council for their financial support for this event.”
