A ‘good mix’ at McAfee sale this week

FINE furnishings, good silver, lots of collectibles, paintings, clocks and a good mix of household furnishings is how Gerry McAfee sums up this weeks two night sale of approximately 1250 lots in there Ballymoney rooms on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th June, nightly @ 6.30pm.

The contents from mainly five properties in Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart, Ballymena and Greenisland and other lots from various collectors, the sale ‘really does offer something for everyone, and even includes some outdoor effects - tools for the men and lots of jewellery for the ladies.

 Included in the main fine pieces furniture is an inlaid cyclinder top writing bureau, a choice of revolving bookcases. two card tables, dining room sets, display cabinets, dressers, occasional tables, occasional easy and armchairs, pair of chairs etc.

A good selection of bedroom pieces including a three door wardrobe with painted panels, chests, bedside cabinets, dressing tables, a nice painted iron and brass bed, and other associated pieces, marble top washstand, Bonheur du jour, chair sets, single end settee, a good pine and a good painted storage cupboard, three piece leather suite, and other leather and upholstered suites, two sofa tables, hall tables, etc.

Collectibles include a large sellection of Royal Albert, noritake and other bone china tea sets, pieces of Royal Dux, Royal Worcester, moorcroft, belleek, doulton, crown ducal, a collection of hummel’s, crystal including pieces of Waterford and Tyrone, beswick, carltonware, bunnykins, anysley, silver plate, minatures, prints, ruby, etc etc.

Clocks include two long case clocks, grand daughter clock, vienna and wag at the wall, drop dial, and a selection of slate and other mantle clocks.

Oil paintings, watercolour, nice prints, crystoleums, hang alongside a good selection of large overmantles and mirrors, and there is also a good variety of smaller wooden framed and other wall mirrors.

Jewellery included, two specials rings, a very fine 14ct white gold ring, .11ct diamonds and 3.7ct ruby and a very fine 18ct white gold diamond ring set with phoenix cut .37ct diamonds surrounded with a further .47ct of brilliant cut diamonds and other 9 and 18ct rings, bracelets, brooches, etc.  A very good 18ct gold engraved case pocket watch, and other pocket watches, together with some medals, postcards and collectible books.

More unusual lots include an early surveyors level on stand, and old mangle, chimmey pot, power washers, lawnmowers, signed football, large foot pump, black pots, violin in case, stuffed ferret, bench ends, storm lamps, boxes of tools etc.

Viewing for the sale commences on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th June 3.00 - 5.00pm and 7.00 - 8.30pm and continues on each day of sale from 4.00pm.
