A life of ministry

DEAN George Good was born in Dublin on June 10, 1919 and would have been 91 years old had he lived to his birthday this year.

Educated at Royal Portora School in Enniskillen he had a wide and varied career within the Church and in the process of his life and ministry won many friends and gathered much love and admiration.

Rev Good was made a deacon on June 24, 1942 and he was ordained a priest a year later on June 29, 1943. He served the Parish of Drumglass, Dungannon in the Diocese of Armagh between 1942-1945.

Between 1945-49 he was the Clerical Vicar of Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin. From 1949-1960 he served as Rector of Inniskeel, Portnoo and Lettermacaward. From 1960-67 he served as Dean of Raphoe and of course between 1967-84 he served as a renowned Dean of Derry. He retired from the ministry in 1984.
