A look at the Big House

BIG Houses of Ulster is the subject of a course of five weekly talks arranged by Whitehead Queen's University lecture group.

The lectures, which will be fully illustrated, will be given by Olwen Purdue, who will examine the economic and political domination of Ulster rural life by the Big House during the 19th century.

The course is in Whitehead Community Centre on Tuesdays, starting February 9 from 7.30pm to 9pm. The course fee is 22, with a concession rate of 14 - enrolment on the first night.
