A major new investment worth £400,000 at the Emerson Group

The group, which specialises in the supply of products and services within the construction and landscaping sectors, is on the expansion trail.

It is investing the money in a new Ready-Mixed Plant and has carried out major refurbishment of its Stone Centre Showroom just outside Lurgan.

The move has led to the creation of five new jobs within the Group and is aimed at targeted growth as well as “cementing” established business relationships within both operating sectors.

Norman Emerson Group managing director, George Emerson said: “Whilst conditions remain challenging within our operating sectors, and indeed generally, you simply can’t afford to stand still in business.

“A recent survey from within the construction sector has shown the first increase in construction and manufacturing orders in Northern Ireland since 2007 and that is very positive.

“Our investment ensures that we are ready for any projected upturn whilst providing our existing customers with further assurances of the utmost product conformity.”

The new plant which is located at the group’s headquarters at Ardmore on the shores of Lough Neagh has the capability to supply in excess of 100 cu.m of concrete an hour.

As part of the investment Paul Lennon joins the group as local area sales representative and four new drivers have been appointed on the product delivery front.

The group’s Natural Stone Centre Showroom at 1 Annaloiste Road in Lurgan has also been extensively upgraded.

The group imports natural stone products from all over the world and has been at the forefront of stone supply in the local marketplace for the last 15 years.

Craigavon Mayor, Councillor Mark Baxter, highlighted the investment at Monday night’s council meeting.

Councillor Declan McAlinden said he had spoken with George Emerson and he was delighted with the news.

Councillor Meta Crozier said it was good news for Lurgan.
