Aaron will not be forgottensays McQuillan

DUP candidate, Adrian McQuillan has said his thoughts and prayers are with the McCormick family this week, as members of the Royal Irish Regiment return home from a six month tour of Afghanistan.

Ranger McCormick, from Macosquin, was killed whilst on patrol in the Helmand provice of southern Afghanistan in November.

McQuillan described the former Coleraine Inst pupil as a ‘brave and committed’ soldier.

He said: “As the Royal Irish Regiment solider return home, my thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Rangers Aaron McCormick, David Dalzell and Lance Corporal Stephen McKee.

“Aaron, who was a well known local lad, was a brave soldier committed to his job in defence of democracy and peace in the Middle East.

“These brave men lost their lives whilst serving their country abroad in effort to bring peace and stability to the Middle East. We will remember them.”

McQuillan went on: “I am pleased to see the Regiment back on British soil before their return home to Northern Ireland back to their loved ones. The last six months have been an anxious time for the families of these brave men and women, and I am sure that they will be welcomed home with welcomed arms.

“Their efforts in Afghanistan will not be forgotten.” he said.
