Accordion music drifts over Millbrook

The George A Dummigan Memorial Accordion Band and the George Dummigan Accordion Orchestra are staging the joint concert in Millbrook Community Centre on Wednesday, March 3. The event will also serve as an information evening for anyone who might be interested in joining either outfit, or would like to sign them up to take part in indoor or outdoor concerts or festivals this year.

The George A Dummigan Memorial is one of the leading melody marching bands; the orchestra is one of the top orchestras in the country, having won at all their appearances at the prestigious NIBA championships in Armagh and the Ulster Hall. The orchestra has also been successful at the British championships in England and the all-Ireland championships.

Both groups have vacancies for accordion players (button or piano-keyed) at all levels. There’s also opportunities for drummers and percussionists and the orchestra has a vacancy for a keyboard player. Instruments will be provided.
