Accused allowed back in Coleraine

THE three Coleraine men charged in connection with the attempted murder of a man in Coleraine last month have been granted permission to return to their addresses in Coleraine.

James Henry Woods, Paul Martin Mullan and Adam Gareth Hutchinson all appeared before North Antrim Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.

Woods of Lisnablagh Road, Mullan of Kingsberry Gardens and Hutchinson of Daneshill Road, are all charged with the attempted murder of Ben Strutt at Lime Market Street, Coleraine on July 16.

Hutchinson is also charged with the aggravated assault of a female on the same date.

A PSNI detective sergeant told the court that the accused could reside in Coleraine, however, the officer said that there were exceptions.

He told the court that police were concerned about the defendants interfering with witnesses and, as a result, a bail variation was put in place which prevents the accused from being in the west side of the town.

Addressing the defendants, District Judge, Richard Wilson, warned them that they were only allowed to pass through the Waterside area in a car.

He also told them that they should not interfere with witnesses.
