Accused of having drugs worth £60,000

A 24-year-old man is to stand trial at the city's crown court accused of possessing £60,000 worth of drugs.

Christopher Andrew Ball, of Deanery Street, faces a number of drugs charges relating to speed and cannabis found during a search of his home on November 19th last.

Ball is accused of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply and of having amphetamine.

He is further charged with supplying caanbis and amphetamine on unknown dates between November 19, 2007, and November 20, 2009.

During a preliminary enquiry at Londonderry Magistrates Court, the 24-year-old declined to say anything in answer to the charges.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley conceded there was a prima facie case to answer.

He revealed to the court that the alleged street value of the drugs is 60,000.

Ball was released on continuing bail to appear at the crown court on September 16.
