Action Cancer’s Big Bus visitto Armoy

Vital services and tests are carried out by a team of experts from Action Cancer for the benefit of the community and the results can lead to early detection of cancers which can subsequently be successfully treated.

Armoy Community Association representatives, John Ward and Ruth McLaughlin, who organised the visit, said they hoped to bring the Bus back to the village early next year.

Fund-raising for the cost of the bus was obtained during a fun day at Limepark on August 19 and four local ladies, Linda Hartin, Margaret McCaughan, Jacqueline Breen and Marie O’Kane, lent their full support to the initiative.

They were present on the visit to hand over a cheque to Action Cancer’s representative, Nikki Rose, Health Promotion Officer for Action Cancer and Victoria Stirling, Health Promotion staff.

Mr. Ward thanked Ruth McLaughlin for coming up with the idea of bringing the bus to Armoy and said he hoped it would be of great benefit to all who availed of the facilities.
