'Action counts in North Antrim' - Paisley jnr

THE DUP'S Westminster candidate for North Antrim, Ian Paisley jnr, says, if elected an MP, he will continue his work to ensure that more resources are available in the constitutency for which he says he has, in past financial year alone, "helped to secure almost £17m" for social development.

Mr Paisley pointed out that during that period he had lobbied the Department of Social Development to ensure support was directed to housing, regeneration and community development work.

“I recently asked the Minister to confirm the amount of money made available as a result,” he added.

“In a formal response from the Minister, the DSD has confirmed that I have helped to secure almost seventeen million pounds. For example, 404,847 has been directed towards community development programmes in North Antrim.

“I work closely with many community groups and believe that the community group sector plays an important role of making things happen locally at grass roots level for elderly, youth and all sector groups. This is an area of work that I wish to see strengthened,” said Mr Paisley.

“I helped to secure a further 1,396,300 in respect of urban regeneration. This money has helped tidy up areas of dilapidation and has helped to improve the physical environment of our area. And I have helped to secure 15 million for housing projects in North Antrim.

“This is a very important aspect of my work. Increasing public and private housing and seeing improvement schemes in place are a crucial part of my job.

As Member of Parliament I will build on this work and ensure that more resources are available in my constituency.

“No other candidate has such a track record of working for the constituency and delivering in real terms for the area. Talk is cheap, action is what counts in North Antrim,” he said.
