Adair rides on to set new record

WITH the shooting season in full flow at Rathfriland, there was another big turnout expected at Rathfriland recently. However, there was a bit of a 'let-down' in numbers at the latest DTL shoot, held Thursday 27th May. This was down to the fact numerous shooters had made the trip across the water to the annual Kreighoff championship.

Nevertheless, there were a total of 11 lines, with some shooters struggling in the poor weather. In total, six shooters shot 20/60, four of which stayed for the final. These were Gary McCartney, Alan Fowler, George Gracey, and Hugh Forsythe.

The shoot-off was tense, with the light beginning to fade. In the end it was Rathfriland shooter George Gracey who made home advantage count, taking home the win after shooting 20/59.

The final results were as follows; 1st – George Gracey; 2nd – Alan Fowler; 3rd – Hugh Forsythe; 4th – Gary McCartney.

As usual, shooting will continue next Thursday evening, the 3rd June, with the action beginning at 5pm. Once again, all shooters will be welcome.
