Adam organised the special evening to raise sponsorship money towards an abseil he is completing in aid of the charity.

Local businesses as well as Adam’s friends and family supported the event by coming along on the night and even donating prizes to be given away in a special draw.

In total, the event raised £10,000 for NICFC, which will now be used to support its services for children affected by cancer and their families.

Adam decided to raise funds for NICFC because of the help he has personally received from the

charity over the last few years.

Sadly, his sister, Helen, and twin brother, Brian both passed away. Helen (3) died seven years ago while Brian (10) passed away in December.

He explained, “The support my family and I have received from NICFC has helped to guide us

through what has been an extremely difficult time for all of us.

“I’m very happy to be able to give something back to the charity by fundraising.”

Gaye Kerr, Adam’s mother, offered her thanks to everyone who helped to make the night at Drumbo Park possible. “We’re grateful for all the help we received,” she said. “In particular, I’d like to offer an extra big thanks to Brian’s special friends from Meadow Bridge Primary School, Jack and Dean Dillon, Fergus and Cara McEwan, Josh Fletcher, Tyler Bain, and Lewis Sproule, who raised a magnificent amount to celebrate what would have been Brian’s eleventh birthday by holding a triathlon. Their donation of £870 contributed to the Drumbo Park event and helped to create a special memento of Brian’s life, made up of photos of him and his friends.

“A huge thanks as well to everyone who donated draw prizes, especially Sandra McCabe from Oasis Travel Lisburn who very generously donated the fabulous top prize of a weekend for two to Paris.”

NICFC is overwhelmed by the massive amount Adam collected through holding the event.

Briege Price, NICFC Fundraiser, said, “Adam is an inspiration to children throughout Northern Ireland. The money he has raised will go on to help many local families who, like his own, have been affected by cancer. On behalf of everyone at NICFC, I would like to sincerely thank him.”
