Added energy for Stepping Stones

LISBURN based charity Stepping Stones has received a significant funding boost from the Energy for Children Charitable Trust - the Trust set up by Phoenix and the wider natural gas industry with the aim to help local disadvantaged children.

The funding has enabled Stepping Stones to purchase an interactive whiteboard and a digital projector in order to run their own training programmes for young people with learning disabilities and difficulties.

The funding will help them provide the necessary equipment needed to deliver courses in Food Preparation, Health & Safety, Information Technology and Customer Care.

Lauren Portis from Stepping Stones commented: “The equipment purchased as a result of the support we received from Energy for Children has enabled us to provide state of the art training facilities for the young people registered on all our courses. These courses teach important skills that are transferable into work and home life.”

Lisburn gas installer David Mayne recently paid a visit to Stepping Stones and he reflected: “We are delighted that this equipment is now playing a key role in the positive work being carried out by Stepping Stones. The training programmes provided will no doubt make a real difference to these young people’s lives, both now and into the future.”

Phoenix Gas covers all administration costs associated with the Charity so that every penny raised goes directly to local disadvantaged children and to date the Energy for Children Charitable Trust has helped over 5,000 needy children.
